Toadies Band Supressing Noise Filter

Tube  of Choice  - For this tutorial, I used a delightful image created by Suzanne Woolcott.  You can purchase her wonderful art in tube and full form at AMI which stands for Artistic Minds, Inc. 

Supplies to Download: The circle template, the Christmas tree, and the ribbon garland frame created by me using a beautiful Christmas ribbon by Rainbow Coffi.  The Christmas Ornament is created by Rainbow Coffi. The full collection of Rainbow Coffi's awesome images is housed at PSP Playground.  Anyone can join, free of charge.

SETTING USED IN THIS TUTORIAL

 

Magic Wand Settings 

Mode: Add/Shift, Match Mode: RGB Value, Tolerance 36 (more or less depending on your PSP version), Contiguous checked, Feather: 0, Anti-Alias checked and outside selected.

Drop Shadow:

Vertical Offset 2, Horizontal Offset 2, Opacity 80, Blur 5, Color Black

 

Step 1

Open up the circle graphic.  Left click the magic wand using the settings from above.  Left click the magic wand inside the circle to select it. 

At the Material Palette, select  deep  green (#17510b) for your basic tag.

Flood fill the circle with that color do not deselect.

Step 2

Go to Effects/Plugins/Toadies/Band Supressing Noise and apply the filter with the default setting.  Go to Selections/Select None.

Step 3

Open up the garland psp file.  Go to Edit/Copy.  Make the circle image active and go to Edit/Paste as New Layer.  Left click the mover tool and move the garland so that it fits perfectly over the circle. 

Go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.

Step 4

Open up the Christmas tree graphic (or you can use your own).  Copy and paste the graphic inside the tag. 

Step 5

Open up your tube graphic.  Copy and paste the tube graphic inside the tag.  If the tube graphic is too large, go to Image/Resize using the percent option, smart size and resize all layers NOT checked.

Step 6

Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and use the settings from above.

Step 7

Add your copyright information.

Step 8

Open up the Christmas  bulb Ornament file.  Set the selection tool to rectangle and draw a selection around the bulb you wish to use.  Go to Edit/Copy and Edit/Paste as New Image.

Go to Image/Resize using the percent option at 40%, bicubic and resize all layers checked.

Copy and paste the Chrismas bulb ornament on the tag.

Go to Layers/Merge/Merge All (flatten).  Make sure you go to flatten not Merge Visible.

Step 9

Go to Layers New Raster Layer (very important that you are on a new layer).

Step 10

Open up the rhinestone psp file. Select the red one and go to Edit/Copy.  Make your tag image active and go to Edit/Paste as New Selection (NOT new layer).   Holding down the left mouse button, move the rhinestone inside the middle portion of one of the ribbons in your garland.  Go to Selections/Select None.

Step 11

Go to Edit/Paste as New Selection and apply the rhinestone to the next ribbon and go to Selections/Select None. 

Continue doing this until all the ribbons within your garland have rhinestones set inside the middle portion of each ribbon.

Step 12

Go to Edit/Paste as New Selection and this time add some red rhinestones to your Christmas tree.

Step 13

Select a different color rhinestone.  Make the tag image active and still on the same layer, go to Edit/Paste as New Selection and paste the second color rhinestone on the tree. 

Again go to Edit/Paste as New Selection and continue adding that color.

Step 14

Repeat Step 13 using a different color rhinestone and still applying on the same layer.

Step 15

Go to Layers/Duplicate.  Go to Adjust/Brightness and Contrast/Brightness/Contrast and use these settings:

Brightness -124 and Contrast 3.

You will see that the rhinestones are of a much, much darker hue now.

Step 16

Open up the layer palette, and make sure you are on layer one (the background layer).  Go to Layers/Duplicate.  You should now have two background layers and two layers that have your rhinestones.

Step 17

We will now merge the rhinestone layers with the background layers.

Open up your layer palette.

Left click the eye on the copy of the background layer (2nd layer) to close it off.  (You will send a red x)

Left click the eye on the top layer (rhinestone layer) to close it off. (You will see a red x)

Make sure you are now on the bottom background layer (it should be still open). Go to Layers/Merge Merge Visible.  

Left click the eye on this merged layer to close it off. There should be a red x there.

Step 18

Left click the red x's off the copy of the background layer (the layer above the merged layer) and the top rhinestone layer to open up these files.

Make sure you are now on the copy of the background layer (the second layer) and go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.

Step 19

Left click the red x off the bottom merged layer to open it up.  You should now have two merged layers.

Step 20

Go to Image/Resize using the percent option at 90%, smart size and resize all layers checked.

Save this file as a psp or psd file.  We will finish the animation and add the text in animation shop. Click here to continue.
