Supplies Jasc's Paint Shop Pro - any version. Tube of Choice. The tube image I am using is by Scott Tolleson. Scott Tolleson's art is sold by commercial license through CILM. Filter Needed: The filter for the edges is called distress. If you do not have Xenofex 1.1 you can substitute another commercial filter such as Xenofex 2, burnt edges or Filters Unlimited 2, square edges. If you have neither of these commercial filters, you can add a border instead. Supplies for download: Hawaii supplies - flower background, two leis, animated palm tree Font of choice. SETTING USED IN THIS TUTORIAL Drop Shadow Setting: Vertical Offset 2, Horizontal Offset 2, Opacity 80, Blur 5, Color Black Vertical Offset -2, Horizontal Offset -2, Opacity 80, Blur 5, Color Black
Step 1 Open up the hawaii template, your tube image and the flowers background. Step 2 Select a color from your main image that you will want to use for your background in the top color box at the Material Palette. Left click the material palette and when the color selection window opens up, write down the hue and saturation amounts. Go to Adjust/Hue and Saturation/Colorize and type in the amounts for the hue and saturation. Your flower background will have that new color. BUT we want this color to be muted. Step 3 Add a new layer to your flower background (Layers/New Raster Layer) and flood fill this layer with white. Open up your layer palette and on the white layer, move the opacity setting over to the left until you see the flower background showing through the white. Once you get the muted color you like, go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible. Step 4 At the Material palette, left click the bottom color box and when the color selection window opens, locate the muted flower background with angle at 0 and scale at 100. Step 5 Make the Hawaii Template active and go to Layers/New Raster Layer. On this new layer, flood fill it with the muted flower background. Open up the layer palette and move the opacity setting over until you see the Hawaii map template below. Once you get a muted color you like, go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible. Step 6 Go to Image/Resize using the percent option at 90%, bicubic and resize all layers NOT checked. Step 7 Go to Effects/Plugins/Xenofex1.1/Distress and use these settings: Edge Width 20, Irregularity 55 and Edge Type: Jagged. **If you do not have this filter - you can use any other filter as mentioned above for your edges. ** NOTE: If you have no filters for edges - DO NOT resize your image but do add a border by going to Image/Add Border - select a color - border width 3 and symmetric checked.** Step 8 Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and use the settings above with the positive vertical and horizontal offsets. Step 9 Repeat Step 8 but this time make the vertical and horizontal offsets a negative. Step 10 Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and add your tube image. If your image is too large resize your image as you did in Step 6. Step 11 Repeat Step 8. Step 12 Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and add Lei #1. If you would like a smaller Lei, repeat Step 6. Step 13 Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and add Lei #2. If this lei is too large, repeat Step 6. Go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible. Step 14 Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and add your copyright. Step 15 Go to Layers/New Raster Layer. For your text, in the top color box, make it black. In the bottom color box, you should have your flower background. Apply your text and do add the same drop shadow as you did in Step 8. Step 16 Go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible. Go to Image/Resize using the percent option at 80%, bicubic and resize all layers checked. Save this file as a psp or psd file. We will finish the tag in animation shop.
