TECHNICAL INFO

MAKE A BETTER REMOTE FOR YOUR WINCH

*** WORKS FOR WARN WINCHES ONLY

PARTS REQUIRED;

3 Position Momentary switch Electrical tape
OLD WARN REMOTE (any type) Assorted connectors
OLD EXTENSION CORD (in good shape, 3 WIRE)

  Once you have all the parts you can start by taking the WARN remote apart.  To do this spread the tips of the rubber guards on the remote and pull on the switch.  Once you have it all apart take the wires and cut them so that you can remove all the old wiring.  Then once you have removed the old switch save everything but the wiring and the switch.

     THEN CUT YOUR EXTENSION CORD 2 FEET from the FEMALE end remove 3 inches of the plastic covering on each side of the cut.

      Then once you have done that then replace the stock switch with the new one and wire the WHITE wire to the centre pin and then the GREEN and BLACK make sure to use the longer MALE end of the cord for the remote switch.

    Then remove the solenoid cover and find the GREEN, WHITE and BLACK pins.  Then once you have found those wires attach the matching colours of the 2 foot piece with the FEMALE end to the pins.

*** MAKE SURE TO ATTACH THE FEMALE END TO THE SOLENOID BOX TO ENSURE THAT NO ONE ACCIDENTALLY PLUGS IT IN THINKING THAT THEY ARE PLUGGING IN A BLOCK HEATER.

     Now connect the MALE/FEMALE ends of your new remote together and test to see which ways the winch turns and once you know for certain then re-attach the stock label off your remote switch.  Then once you are happy with everything replace the solenoid cover and replace switch back in the rubber switch cover.  SOME RUBBER SWITCH COVERS MIGHT REQUIRE DRILLING FOR THE LARGER CABLE
