FROM THE GROUND UP

OFF-ROAD

My RIG

Playing the day after the lift was installed.  This is after being stuck for 4 hours (MAY LONG 2000)

This is he first time my SSR's had ever seen mud.  BIG LEARNING CURVE for me from this point on.  THE FIRST DAY OF LIFT (MAY LONG 2000)

This is the first picture of the new lift and tires on the stock rims.  This is just before heading out to play for the day. (may Long 2000)

Up in the mountains for the day.  Enjoying that fact that there was no one driving in the middle of the storm.  Enjoying also the DEEP powder and the view when the storm lifted. (march 2001)

Just a picture of the battle river.  It was the only place I was able to find mud.  (April 2001)

A picture right after cleaning it.  Looks good when it is wet, wish it was this shiny all the time. (APRIL 2001)

This is the rear cargo area.  The fullsize advantage.  LOTS OF TOOLS out on the trails.  But the longer wheel base and heavy weight can have just as many disadvantages.

Testing the flex of my suspension.  (APRIL 2001)  Need a real RTI Ramp

Waparious Valley Trail on the way back from Marget lake. (May long 2001)

Enjoying the view on the way to Margret Lake (May Long 2001)

The ends of my axle breather tubes.  Topped off with GM style axle breathers.

My axle breather tube (Front) using 1/4 inch self coiling air line.  Much stronger than the rubber lines and allows for axle movement,  The other advantage is that they are sealed much better because they thread right into the axle and run right to the back of the box behind my tool box.  Getting water that high water in my axles will be the least of my concerns.  (BELOW IS THE REAR)

This is what happens when your stuck and you know you have a ROAD ARMOR bumper on order.  2 trucks were pulling from where the chain is attached.  It was the weirdest feeling when I began to move UP and not forward when they started pulling.  I was sitting right on my Westin Tube Steps and they did exactly what I bought them for to protect the truck.  I went in to get a STOCK Dakota out but I never even got to take the slack off of the tow strap.  BITTER when you have a M12000 sitting at home.  (JUNE 2001)  I like to call the my happy truck pic because I was laughing so much and I still swear it looks like it is smiling to me.

My first time out by myself and it will be my last trip alone.  Out near COLD LAKE Alberta and it took 2 tow trucks nearly 12 hours to get to me and get me out.  The first tow truck gave up after 6 hours of winching and the second nearly gave up but was lucky that I had a winch.  He was worried that he would not have been able to get back out himself.  I was on my way to MAY LAKE from the north which apparently NO ONE try's to do.  This pic is the result of 2 hours of trying to winch myself out backwards with my HI-LIFT jack until it exploded and I no other option but to winch myself forward hoping to get onto the higher ground. (JULY 2001)

Ran into the guys at NORLA.  Great bunch of people that I hope to wheel with again.

Testing out my BFG KO's on some sand dunes that I had found.  There are a lot more here in ALBERTA than I thought there would be.  MY rear axle flex's so much that the rear shocks hit the frame when it flex's.  SOON TO BE TAKEN CARE OF. (JULY 2001)

The next few pics are of my ROAD ARMOR bumper and upgraded new winch hook on my WARN M12000. (JULY 2001)

Testing to see how all the extra weight feels up front.  Actually I really enjoy the added security the bumper provides.

The next few pics are with my Surplus military 3/4 Trailer hooked up.  It comes with 31 inch 16.5 tires and a full spare as well as front and rear leveling stands and an integral momentum brake built into the pintle hitch and dual d-rings front a rear.  It also came with a full super structure and a tarp which is not shown in the pics.  I Painted the entire trailer to get rid of the green.  WORKS REALLY WELL OFF-ROAD.  I have jackknifed it on a couple of occasions and it does not hit the truck when I do and there have been times I thought that it should have rolled over but never did.  Makes outing much more enjoyable to be able to drop the trailer and begin wheeling instantly and not have the truck weighted down.

Just a picture of the trucks center control area with my CB (center right), winch switch (bottom center) and (top right) my light switches with fuses but not that easy to see in the pic.

A picture from in the cab while winching out KEITH out with 44's.  There was 5 other trucks pulling to get him out.  3 other winches and 2 trucks as anchors  (SEPT LONG 2001).

The last pic are on 29th of December 2002 and was just after a light snowfall.  This is just before the falls after many creek crossings and breaking threw the ice more than once.  I ended up blowing the sector shaft in the steering box in my truck when I had to really hammer the fuel to get threw the creek after breaking threw the ice.

Here is one of the pics from May long 2003.

Here is a quick picture from the ROCKY MOUNTIAN BIG WHEELS SHOW AND SHINE 2003 where I ramped 767 on the RTI ramp.

Here I am at the SHOWDOWN. It was a FANTASTIC Event that I hope to compete in in the next couple years.  Here is a link to the XTreme SHOWDOWN.

Well as you can see I switched out my cable on my M12000 to amsteel Blue.  For a full write up CLICK HERE

Here is a picture of the Steering stabilizer I got from Solid Steel Industries Ltd located in Sask, Canada.  For a full write up click here

By far one of the best mods for any 94-01 Dodge Ram.

1 TON STEERING UPGRADE WRITE UP TOO COME SOON.  Pictures were lost when my camera took a dump so I am going to wait for warmer weather and get some paint to touch some things up.  So far it has been great.  It has taken some beatings and is still true and handles much better than before.  Plus next time I have to replace all my TRE's it will be less than 1 stock Tie Rod End.
