NPA stands for Newark Pride Alliance, an LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered) advocacy group founded in the wake of Sakia Gunn's murder in May of 2003.
All LGBT people living or working in the Newark metropolitan area - as well as LGBT-friendly people who want to make Newark a safer place for us - are welcome to join in our efforts.
NPA aims to make Newark a city to be proud of and a city to be proud in: a city safe for all of its people: gay, straight, bisexual, lesbian and transgendered.
Among NPA's goals is the creation of an LGBT community center in Newark, to be known as the Sakia Gunn Lesbian & Gay youth Community Center The Newark Pride Alliance is presently accepting donations to the Sakia Gunn Memorial Fund for this purpose.
