EXPERIENCE

Gordon Wright, BBM, MBA is the founder, President and Chief Marketing Officer of Nevco Marketing. He works with owners and senior executives of small and medium sized businesses to identify and exploit new opportunities.  Simply stated, this means growing their businesses; improving the effectiveness of their organizations in penetrating their markets; increasing profits (through cost improvement and/or re-structuring pricing strategies); and building a compelling and sustainable competitive advantage (by focusing on product development and customer development).

 

Gord has spent nearly thirty years in business, most of which was in senior marketing and sales positions in consumer products manufacturing companies.  He has spent time on “both sides of the desk” having held corporate positions at the Hudson’s Bay Company and Zellers, early in his career, followed by senior marketing and market development positions at Libbey Glass and Rubbermaid.

 

Over the past dozen years, Gord has used his broad range of business skills and insights to play a lead role in the turnaround of a Canadian sporting goods manufacturer where he developed and implemented strategies resulting in sales growth of 67% in the first three years through internally developed new products and increased market penetration in Canada, the US, and overseas.  During that period, he led product development teams, sales teams, cross-functional operations teams, and external cross-company teams.  In recent years, he has played a key role in several other turnaround/startup ventures in both active and advisory capacities.  Since 2002, he has been devoting himself to providing hands on marketing, product development, and sales development assistance to a variety of businesses in a consulting role under the Nevco Marketing banner.

    

With those organizations and assignments, he and his teams were able to develop plans and implement programs to successfully increase revenues, operating income, market share and overall market leadership.

EDUCATION

Gord has an MBA degree from the Schulich School of Business, York University and an undergraduate degree in Business Management from Ryerson University. Gord’s leadership skills, and academic accomplishments, plus his community involvement at Ryerson were recognized by the university when he was awarded the Ryerson Gold Medal (Ryerson’s Highest Award).  The award is presented to a graduate for “high academic achievement combined with an outstanding contribution to Ryerson through extra-curricular and co-curricular activities”.
