HISTORY

OUR SIDE OF THE STORY!

Political domination, suppression and socio-economic exploitation by the aliens over the Boro people with forcible occupation of Boroland and forced cultural imposition for the last 5 decades has threatened the very existence and identity of the Boro nation. Wherever suppression, exploitation and domination exist there have been resistance movements from the people. The National Democratic Front of Boroland was born on the 3rd October 1986 with a noble cause to wage a people’s protracted struggle of resistance against the Indian occupation of the Boroland and thereby to free the Boro people from India’s colonial rule of suppression and domination.

The Boro people are the earliest known inhabitants of the so-called North East Region (of India) and have the history of not less than 5000 years. They are the founder of human civilization in the entire region. Once they predominantly ruled over the entire Brahmaputra and Barak Valleys, north Bengal, north Bihar, present Meche Anchal of Nepal, parts of Bangladesh and Tripura along with its adjacent districts of present day Bangladesh. The Achiks (Garos), Boros, Boroks, Deuris, Dimasas, Hajongs, Kamtapuris (Koch-Rajbongsis), Rabhas, Sonowals, Tiwas, Dhimals and Meches of Nepal are ethnically of the same ancestry. They ruled with paramount authority in the region and with their distinct culture and political entity. The Asuras, the Danavas, the Kiratas, the Varmans, the Sala Stambhas, the Pralambhas, the Palas, the Khenas, the Koch, the Kacharis and the Tripuras or the Twipras are none other than the ruling Boro dynasties of different times and places. The British conquered three Boro kingdoms and subsequently merged them with the British Empire in 1832, 1854 and 1867. Two other Boro kingdoms of Tripura and Koch Bihar were forcibly taken over by India after the British had left. Historically the Boro people and their land had never been a part of India. No Indian ruler or emperor had ever conquered or ruled the Boro people. Ethno-culturally they are different from those of the Indians. They are not Indians, therefore the Boro people has every right to live as a free and independent nation.

The National Democratic Front of Boroland has been waging a war of resistance against the colonial rule of India for the last 15 years. Hundreds of freedom fighters have already martyred themselves for the cause. An unaccounted number of innocent civilians have fallen victim at the hands of occupying forces of India. The Boro people are fighting everywhere – the Boroks, the Achiks, the Rabhas, the Dimasas, the Koch Rajbongshis are struggling for their legitimate rights.

India’s rule of suppression and domination is very little known to the world chiefly because of the two reasons. The reasons being the strong and effective camouflaging pro-government propaganda as against our incapacity to disseminate the accurate information on time. India, which likes to boast itself of being the largest democratic country in the world, has been trying to wipe out the entire Boro population on the pretext of protecting its integrity and sovereignty for the last 55 years. The Boro people are going through untold miseries under the colonial rule of India. The struggle of NDFB and the Boro people and their sufferings are little known to the international community. This website of ours thanks to Geocities with one or two pages is aimed at disseminating prompt and correct information about the struggle of NDFB and the Boro people; to tell our side of the story – the truth. We hope that the international community will get to know the truth and understand the core issue of our struggle -- the cause, the reality and the everyday events through this little venture of ours.
