Nature Show - a comic strip
I draw animals because its easier than drawing people. Nature Show is my comic strip. It runs on a somewhat daily basis in the University of Texas' student newspaper, The Daily Texan. I do this comic strip so people will think I am cool and I can act nonchalant about being recognized for my work. Example:

Film Director Robert Rodriguez: "It amazes me that you can create such a high quality comic strip on such a low budget!"

Me: "Kind of like you did with 'El Mariachi,' Robert?"

RR: "I suppose you could say that...if you have no sense of analogy, that is. "

Me
: "What exactly are you getting at, Robert? This is just something I do in my spare time. *Shrugs* It's not like I'm trying to really create art or do something meaningful."

RR
: "...and it's a good thing, too. Hey, you want my autograph?"

Me
: "No."

My strip is not as funny as
Mac Blake's, not nearly as well drawn as Yingdi's, and certainly not as irreverant as Joshua B'Gosh's. Nonetheless, the law of averages dictates that if I publish enough strips, at least one will be entertaining to someone.
Things I should keep private:
Other Daily Texan Comics:
Bill and Erik - All Hail.
Shhh... - Poetic mishaps with stunning visual aids.
Off Campus -I actually think this is terrible.
Creased Comics - I don't get it.
Vague Space -I long to be this consistently random and entertaining.

Sorry that it has been so long in between updates. I don't know why
webmasters always apologize for not having updated. Even most of the popular websites don't get money from their readership, not to mention that nobody reads pages like mine.

Except you...you dirty, dirty little person.

Anyway, if anyone has noticed (which I'm sure you haven't) my comic strip has not really been run in the Daily Texan at all in the past couple of months. The reason for this is that there is no chance of my getting a
paid position for drawing it in the next one, possibly two semesters. So, my logic is this: why use up all of the material I am stacking up to fill in the summer comics that no one really reads to try and earn a spot that I can't anyway...or something like that. Regardless, you will not see Nature Show for the remainder of the summer, and possibly next fall. No, it's not about the money, its just that if you are a non-paid stripper, you get run so inconsistently it is pretty much not worth it. I might try submitting some of my stuff to the Austin Chronicle or even the Travesty. Christ, if Dilbert can make it with re-hashed office humor, Jacques vomiting on Snaps is bound to have appeal to someone... preferrably someone with lots of extra money...dirty, dirty money.

Tool was unbelievable. Greatest and most relevant band in the world. Oh, and I am moving in with my girlfriend this weekend. That should inspire a few comic strips.
