The Swiss Final was held on February 4th at the TSI TV Studios in Lugano, hosted by Natascha Giller & Enzo Guidi. The winning song was chosen by the votes of 3 regional juries, a press jury and a jury of "experts". The voting was weighted so that the votes of the 3 regional juries counted for 1/3, the press for 1/3 and the "experts" for 1/3 of the overall vote.

Rainy Day previously came 3rd in the 1982 Swiss Final. At the ESC they were 16th. Arlette Zola represented Switzerland in ESC 1982.
