Brenda  Lee
What  a thrill in Aug. 1998 when I saw Brenda Lee at Renfro Valley, KY.  I was truly amazed at her performance of her many classics and covers of other classics.  I sat in awe of this woman, she truly entertains you.    Another thrill was getting backstage passes to meet her.  She was such a nice person.  Treated us just like regular folk.  We spent about 15 minutes with her after her show. Lordy she was concerned she had went over her "alotted" time.  I thought you are legend don't worry about. Sorry she is so white faced.  I rarely have front seats and did not accomdate for the light.
The Lynns
During fan fair 1999 The Lynns went back home for their fan club party.   It was held at  Tootsie Orchard Lounge,  were the girls were discovered by their record company. It was a pack house in the back room stage.   They also provided dinner and visited with fans.   They did a 1 hr. set of new material  from the upcoming CD and favorites from the first CD.  After wards they signed autographs and posed for pictures with everyone.

Inside clue,  the new material is awesome.  Can't wait to get the new material.
Renfro Valley Ky 6-98.
1998 saw the release the  wonderfully talented Lynns.   What a refreshing sound.  Thank goodness they did shows near me.   I first saw then at Renfro Valley Ky.  They had  a very engeric show.  Well over 50 people stood in line to meet them, including me!  Truly nice gals.  Then comes Aug and they open their first show for their mother, Loretta Lynn.  Neither act had played the Ky State Fair.  It was one of the biggest shows in the fair history.  The crowd loved them.  This was a magic show, the twins closed the  show with momma singing "Coal Miner's Daugher".
They teased big brother Ernest Rae as he sang.  Loretta's sister, Peggy Sue came out and sang "Don't Come Home", she wrote this for Loretta.  Again they meet with fans after the show.   What amazed me was that Patsy's husband remembered my face from the Renfro Valley show!  Smart gal for marring him. Patsy has the curly hair and Peggy the straighter hair.  Check out their home page for more info, the link is above.

EXILE
Finally after knowing JP Pennington and meeting members of the band throughout the 80's I had the opportunity to see JP and Les Taylor in 1998 in Winchester, KY.  What a great high energy show.  The crowd loved all their hits plus some new material they performed.
The photo at the right  is from an appearance here in Lexington, Ky for a July 4th concert.   1,000s came and their hometown loved them!
MONTE WARDEN
I first heard of Monte Warden when he was with  a group called "The Wagoners", not the old Porter Wagoner band.  They  had a hit with "I Want to Know Her Again".    The video caught my attention because they used video footage of several legendary singers including Patsy Cline.  Well any group that features Patsy is alright with me!

The band disbanded after a few years and Monte began a solo career.  Several years and a few ablums later Monte signed with Alysum Records.

Monte came to Lynaugh's in July (1999) for his second show and I made sure that I was there.   I had the oppurtunity to meet Monte before the show as he and the band had come to the bar area to visit with the opening act and fans.   I found him very nice.   He put on a great show  performing some "Wagoner" tunes along with several tunes off his new cd.  He also tested a few news one on us as he is a songwriter.
