Nansemond Chapter
of the
Archeological Society of Virginia
Our chapter is the local chapter for members in the Tidewater Region of Virginia. This area includes Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth and Suffolk. Members come from as far West as Southampton Co., Virginia. Our meetings are open to everyone. Meetings are held on the third Friday of each month and are presently being held at Dennis Spaghetti & Steak House in Chesapeake, VA located at 3356 Western Branch Blvd. The meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. and the speaker begins at 7:30. Every meeting except for December has a speaker giving a presentation usually dealing with some aspect of Archeology. Any questions or comments should be sent to Livin2dig@aol.com.

We will meet September 20, at Dennis Spaghetti & Steak House in Chesapeake, our guest speaker will be Allen Outlaw.The TITLE "Archaeology in the Private Sector" Assisting clients in the private sector with archaeology offers special challenges not faced by the more leisurely study of sites in protected settings. This lecture provides examples of how situations were handled with limited time and funding to insure that buried resources were properly recorded. On November 2 we will have an Artifact Identification Day at The Nansemond Indian Tribal Center 6068 Rt.10 Chuckatuck,Va. from 11:00AM-2:00PM. Everyone is welcome to bring their artifacts.
