Chikyuu

"Hey, Goten!" said Bra smiling. Goten turned and grinned.

"Hi, Bra-chan!" he said, "You look great!"

"Thanks," said Bra, "So do you!"

"Would you mind if I escorted you to dinner, my princess?" said Goten bowing and extending his elbow. Bra giggled and placed her hand on his arm.

"I would be honoured, my prince," she said and they made their way downstairs to the great hall of the castle.

"Milady?" Pan heard a meek voice say. She looked up to see a maid standing by the door.

"Yes?" answered Pan.

"The Prince requests your presence for dinner down in the great hall," said the maid nervously.

"Okay, I will be down in a second," said Pan smiling.

The maid smiled at Pan then left in a hurry. Pan got up and walked out of her room dreading the events that would follow.

As Pan walked into the great hall all the chatter around the dining room table stopped and everyone turned to look at Pan. Pan shifted uncomfortably and found a seat near the head of the table where Bra, Goten, and Trunks were.

"Shall we tell them?" Trunks asked Pan. Pan nodded. Might as well get this over with quickly, she thought. She watched as Trunks stood up and cleared his throat. Everyone around the table turned to look at him.

"Excuse me everyone, I have an announcement to make," he said loudly and clearly, "Princess Pan of Chikyuu and I are engaged to be married."

After a moment of silence to digest this information, everyone started to cheer and clap. Pan noticed that there were many knights and their ladies sitting around the huge table, with also some dukes and duchesses and counts and countesses.

"Here’s to peace in Chikyuu and Vegeta forevermore!" cried Bra standing up and holding up her wine glass. Everyone held up their glasses in a toast and said, "Peace!" then they drank deeply of their wine.

Pan, Bra, Goten, and Trunks looked at each other in disgust at the taste of the liquid, but they drank it anyway.

After the dinner Pan went out onto the balcony of her room and looked out at the sunset. This is a beautiful place, she thought, but I cannot be happy here. Am I doing the right thing? What would my father do if he knew…

Pan raised her hand to her head. She was getting an awfully bad headache. She supposed that she should get some rest, so she turned around and found herself staring into the face of her soon to be husband.

"Oh, hi," she said tiredly, "What are you doing here?"

"I came to see you," said Trunks smiling, "I need to ask you something."

"I need to ask you something too," said Pan.

"Well, then, why don’t we go inside, so that we can talk?" suggested Trunks.

"Okay," said Pan and she walked inside with Trunks following her. Pan sat down on the window seat and Trunks sat down beside her.

"You go first," said Trunks.

"Okay," said Pan, then she began hesitantly, "Who is the master of this castle?"

"I am it’s master," said Trunks proudly, "Why? Are you not pleased with it?"

"Oh, no!" cried Pan, "I am most pleased with it! This kingdom is the most beautiful place my eyes have ever seen!"

"Then why are you not happy?" asked Trunks lifting up Pan’s chin and looking in to her eyes.

"I...I don’t know," said Pan, she somehow felt tears building up in her eyes and she blinked them back. Warriors don’t cry, she remembered hearing her father say. Warriors don’t cry, warriors don’t cry, warriors don’t cry

"Do you hate me?" asked Trunks sadly.

"I…no, I don’t hate you," Pan said. Warriors don’t cry, warriors don’t cry, warriors don’t cry…

"Then maybe we can find some happiness in our marriage," suggested Trunks, "It can be more than just an arrangement for peace."

"What do you mean?" asked Pan in almost a whisper. Warriors don’t cry, warriors don’t cry, warriors don’t cry…

"Perhaps…maybe, we can learn to love each other?" asked Trunks hopefully.

Pan gasped. Love. That’s what he had said. Was that what was missing from her life? Love? Oh, no, she thought as her eyes began to get blurry again, warriors don’t cry, warriors don’t cry

A tear slowly fell down Pan’s cheek and splashed on her hand. More tears followed and soon she gave up trying to hold them back.

"Is…is it right for us to…love…each other?" asked Pan slowly.

"Well, we can’t keep on thinking of each other as enemies forever," said Trunks, "When we are married we can’t hate each other so we might as well…"

Pan’s tears streamed down her cheeks steadily. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Could she really learn to love the Prince? She looked up at him and studied his handsome face that was illuminated by the moonlight. He was seriously asking her if she would be willing to try to love him. Could she?

"You are right," whispered Pan, "we cannot be enemies forever, but…love?"

"We’ll take it slowly," said Trunks, "We can start by being friends if you want to be?"

Friends? thought Pan, It couldn’t hurt. "Okay, then," she said, "Friends."

Trunks smiled and wiped a tear off Pan’s face with his finger.

"We’ll be very good friends," he said lifting her chin up and gazing into her eyes. Then he got up and left the room.

Friends, thought Pan again, wondering what it would be like to be friends with Trunks. Friends.

Okay, so there it is. PLEASE REVIEW!
