- Best Comedy/Insane
- This category is for weird and funny stories. Basically, the ones that make the judges laugh the hardest win.
- Best Cross Over
- A crossover is a fic where characters from two or more different and completely unreleated anime (or TV, movie, etc.) series end up interacting. Be sure that the main focus of the story remains on Gundam Wing.
- Best Drama
- A story that focuses on the dramatic.
- Best Tragedy
- A category for the dark and depressing.
- Best Horror
- A category for horror and suspense. Only scary things need apply.
- Best Music Fic
- A category for song and vid fics, fics that have words to a song somehow interspersed within the story.
- Best Poetic
- A category for vignettes, monologue, etc. Anything poetic.
- Best Alternate Universe Fic
- Alternative Universe fics are stories taking place on a separate timeline from the original Gundam Wing timeline, while the characters should remain fairly true to their creator's depiction.
- Best Romance
- A category for stories romantic in nature.
- Best Lemon
- A category for lemons, stories with sexually graphic content.
- Best Non-Yaoi
- A category for those non-yaoi pairings. Only male/female relationship type stories need apply.
- Best Yuri
- A category for those yuri fans. Yuri means female/female relationships.
- Best Fairy Tale
- Fairy tale fics are either serious, or more often than not, completely silly tellings of a fairy tale. Please attempt to keep fairy tales somewhat original.
- Best Poem/Song
- A category for Gundam Wing inspired poetry and lyrics.
- Best Non Fiction
- A category for non-fiction, such as essays, research papers and rants-provided they are well organized and relatively inoffensive-related to Gundam Wing.
The Three Major Awards
- Best One-Shot
- A one-shot is a story told in only one part, section, chapter, etc.
- Best Multipart/series
- A story that is told in more than one part, section, chapter, etc., is said to be a multipart or series. Be sure the story is completed before submitting it.
- Best Overall
- This is no longer a category for nomination; rather, the top 10% scoring stories of the contest are put into this category and voted on.
