Research Interests
New Drug Discovery, Design and Synthesis of small drug like molecules.

I am presently a member of Dr. Naoaki Fujii's Chemical Biology group. I am working on novel anticancer agents targeted at pediatric cancers.

I worked in Dr. Hsing-Pang Hsieh's lab at Division of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Research, National Health Research Institutes, Taiwan from April 2002 to May 2006. The work focused on designing and synthesis of novel antidiabetic and anticancer compounds.

I did my Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. V.K. Kapoor and Dr. K. L. Dhar on thesis entitled : A. CHEMICAL INVESTIGATIONS OF PIPER SPP. AND KOELPINIA LINEARIS PALL.B. SYNTHETIC MODIFICATIONS OF VASICINE, AN ALKALOID FROM ADHATODA VASICA NEES. FOR SAR STUDIES

Work experience
More than six years Research Experience in various labs in India and abroad and one and half years teaching experience to Undergraduate and Postgraduate classes at University level. Multistep synthesis of small molecules with an aim to discover new drugs. Resolution of Racemic drugs with the help of enzymes, as well as asymmetric synthesis. Determination of the enantiomeric excess of the resolved compounds with help of chiral HPLC and optical rotation. Microwave mediated organic synthesis. Chemical investigation of natural products utilizing chromatographic techniques and spectroscopy as well as classical techniques to identify the isolated compounds. Essential oils evaluation and adulterant detection with the help of GC-MS and NMR and synthesis of aroma chemicals. Standardization of herbal extracts with the help of HPLC and HPTLC. Acquinted with database and pror art search using Delphion, Derwent, SciFinder, DiscoveryGate, Belelstein Crossfire etc. Well versed with interpretation of NMR, MS, IR, UV spectra and handling of instruments such as NMR, LC-MS, HPLC, HPTLC, UV, IR etc.

I belong to scenic town of
Mandi situated in centre of  Northern Indian State of Himachal Pradesh in Lower Himalyas. I did my schooling from Sunder Nagar (H.P.).
