Abandoned by both parents, no close        relatives to help, no money for food, two younger brothers and a younger sister--could you find the courage to overcome these tremendous obstacles?
    Introduction
Thirteen year old Dicey Tillerman had thought that her family was fine, even though her father had abandoned them years ago. She, along with her mother, her two younger brothers, and her younger sister, had gotten along fine, even without much money.  But, now the greatest obstacle of her young life faced Dicey when her mother abandoned the four children in a mall parking lot.  How can a young girl find the courage to overcome the daily obstacles in order to keep her family together and to find a home?
The Tasks
There are three tasks to complete in this Treasure Hunt before you can complete the Main Task.
1. Dicey's Travel Plans
Even though she was only thirteen, Dicey developed her own itenerary to reach Aunt Cilla's house and later to find her grandmother whom she had never met.   You will study the maps that Dicey used to reach her destinations.  Figure out if Dicey made the best travel decisions as you study the maps.  How would you have done it differently?
After you have studied the maps, you will design a time line which shows the ways that the Tillerman children traveled to reach their destinations.  The time line should be include each destination, the means of transportation to each destination, the route that they traveled, and how long each part of the trip took.
