Music Theory

Hello everyone. This section will be about the dreaded music theory. Well, actually, music theory isn't that hard. It might be a little difficult to understand the first time, but it will get easier after you go over it a couple of times. This page is more of a reference of terms related to music theory. Remember, repetition is the key to learning all things. I'm very sorry that I don't have any sound clips for the different chords that will be involved. The company will not let me use the clips for my page but they will let me use the information. How weird is that!?

I have divided all the pages into categories to make it easier for your browsing. Within the categories, you can see other links. These are called cross references. Cross referencing takes you to topics that are related to the information you are reading.

Also note that this material IS COPYRIGHTED. You can NOT use this in any way. If I ever find this information on any page I have to get it taken down. If I don't I could pay a hefty fine. I have special permission from ENCARTA to use these examples. And believe me, it's not easy to get. For this, I want to say THANK YOU ENCARTA!!!

Below are the different categories of Music Theory. Enjoy!

1. Cadence 2. Canon
3. Chords 4. Chromaticism
5. Counterpoint 6. Harmony
7. Improvisation 8. Interval
9. Melody 10. Modulation
11. Notation 12. Pitch
13. Polyphony 14. Rhythm
15. Round 16. Scale
17. Tonality 18. Tone
19. Twelve-Tone

If you ever find a link/cross reference that does not work, please e-mail it to me so that I can get it fixed as soon as possible. If you do happen to find any mistakes, please tell me where you found them and what the mistakes are. Also, when you e-mail the mistake to me use "Mistake" as the subject of your e-mail. Thank you!
