Mount Shavano, 14,229 feet
Climbed:  August 21, 2006
Mount Shavano is famous for the Angel of Shavano on its east face.  The Angel is a shallow, snow-filled couloir with two diverging branches at the top.  In the spring and early summer, the snow gullies resemble an angel with upstretched arms.  It is interesting to note that both the northermost and southermost Sawatch fourteeners, Mount of the Holy Cross and Shavano, have snow featrures with religious significance.  Shavano is also the easternmost Sawatch fourteener.   Colorado's Fourteeners From Hikes to Climbs, Gerry Roach.
