A Glorious Beginning...

Words of love so gently and earnestly spoken,
Vows that are taken...never meant
to be broken,
The beating of two hearts joined
together in love,
A union surely blessed by heaven above.

Pure white satin upon a bride so fair,
The sweet fragrance of rose petals
permeating the air,
Cherished moments to be engraved in
their hearts forever,
To help carry them through life's
stormiest weather.

They find the greatest delight in each
other's smile,
Everything is bliss for quite a long while.
But eventually they encounter life's
hardest tests.
Forgotten are those cherished moments
with which they were blessed.

The struggles of life begin to take
their toll,
Eating and tearing away at the heart
and soul.
Discontent and unhappiness begin to
set in.
As that glorious beginning starts to
grow dim.

Little misgivings have turned to
mistrust now,
To restore what they once had...they
don't know how.
A love turned cold....bitter words spoken,
No mention of those vows..that were
never to be broken.

The beating of two hearts now torn asunder,
Each wondering how they possibly
could have loved the other.
The sweet fragrance of marriage has
turned sour,
The tension continues to build with
each passing hour.

That love they once felt was forever
to stay,
Has faded with time and wilted away.
In desperation they seek for a way
to set one another free.
Divorce is enevitable...on this they
can agree.

Before a judge they now stand,
No longer lovingly holding each
other's hand.
A splintered union, each going
a separate way,
There's a coldness in the air,
so unlike...
their wedding day.
