Chapter Eighteen

Alecia pulled her hair back and reached for her watch off the nightstand. She'd gotten up early, not being able to sleep any longer. For some reason, sleeping hadn't come as easy as when she was with Nick. She still couldn't believe that she'd fallen asleep, she had to be careful. Not that she thought that Nick would actually take advantage of her, but it still left her vulnerable. She sat on the bed and pulled her shoes on. She was tired of being so nasty to him, she'd exhausted way too much energy on it. What the hell, she could be friends with him, it didn't mean it would turn physical. She wouldn't let that happen. She finished with her shoes and stood, now to figure out what to do for the day.

Nick rolled over and sat up. He was bored silly. It was eleven in the morning and he was actually up. He never got up this early, but he just couldn't seem to sleep any longer. It was like he couldn't wait for the morning to come. None of the guys were free to do anything, he didn't feel like staying cooped up in his room again. He sighed heavily and then there was a knock on the door. He got up and walked over slowly and opened it.

"Hey Nick! How are ya?"

"Hey Alecia! I'm ok. What's up?"

"Don't look so shocked to see me, just ok?"

"Well I just wasn't expecting to see you that's all. I'm a little bored I guess."

"I'm the queen of surprise. Well I've come to solve your boredom. How about you and I spending the day together like friends do."

"Friends? Are you saying we're friends?"

"Maybe..."

"You're such a tease."

"I know. Now get dressed, come by my room when you're ready and we can figure out what to do." She finished and walked back to her room. Nick watched her walk, how would he make it through the day with her? Everything had changed, he realized that last night. His feelings for her had changed, he wasn't sure how he felt. All he knew was that she was no longer his 'conquest'. He valued what she thought of him, he desperately wanted her friendship and now he was so close. He headed back into his room to get ready.

************************************

"Ok, if I throw up it's going to be your fault! I just want you to be aware of that."

"Oh it's not that bad!"

"Nick you don't know me and roller coasters! It's not a pretty site!"

"You'll be fine."

They waited in line for largest roller coaster in the park.

"Oh god, that's so high."

"It's not that high."

"I can't believe I let you talk me into this. I must be sick!"

"No that's what you're gonna be when you get off this." Nick smirked.

Alecia looked at him worried.

"I was just kidding honey. Sorry." Nick smiled.

"Nick...I can't...I can't do this..."

"Whoa, relax. You won't feel a thing I promise. I'll even let you hold my hand."

She smiled weakly as the line moved and they headed on the ride. The chose a seat and pulled the safety bar down over their shoulders.

"You doing alright?"

"Umm...y-yeah...."

"It'll be ok."

She bit her lip and looked at him. "Promise?" She whimpered.

Nick had never seen her like this. She looked so helpless and vulnerable, it made him want her even more. Maybe he shouldn't have made her go on this ride.

Alecia swallowed hard and licked at her lips. She didn't like this feeling of not being in control. It was too late to turn back.

"Wow, you're all pale sweetie. Look I can have them let you off the ride ok."

"No, it's ok...I'll be fine."

Suddenly there was a clang and the safety bar locked into place. Alecia closed her eyes, the announcer came on and ran through his little speech and a few seconds later the ride started moving.

"It's gonna be ok Alecia..." Nick whispered to her.

She did something she wouldn't normally do, she grabbed his hand and held on for dear life. Nick squeezed her hand gently and surprisingly to Alecia, it helped. They started spinning.

"Nick....Ohhhh....my.....gooooooood!!!"

Nick looked over at her as much as he could, she had her eyes closed and was biting her lip. He couldn't help but smile. They spun, twisted, turned and flipped and finally the ride came to an end and they got off.

"Are you ok? Alecia?"

When she didn't respond, Nick walked up next to her and put his arm around her waist to find she was shaking...badly. He pulled her close to him, holding her trembling body.

"Oh Alecia, I'm sorry. I didn't know it'd effect you like this. I'm really sorry." He whispered sadly.

She shook her head. "It's ok Nick. I'm fine."

"No you're not. I can feel you shaking. Here, sit." He led her over to a bench and they sat. "I'm gonna get you a drink, I'll be right back." He got up and walked over to a booth.

Alecia closed her eyes and rested her head back against the bench, trying to stop the world from spinning. It hadn't been that bad, but she couldn't seem to stop shaking. What was worse, was it was happening in front of Nick. She groaned as she felt the starting of a headache. She rubbed at her temples.

"Alecia? I brought you a drink."

She looked up and smiled. "Thanks Nick." She smiled weakly and took the cup and sipped at it as he sat next to her.

"Well you seem to be doing a little better."

"Yeah, now if only you'd stop moving...I can't seem to hold the cup still either." She chuckled, putting the cup down next to her.

"I feel like such an ass for making you go on that." Nick replied sadly.

"It's ok, it was kind of fun actually."

"Please, you're a wreck."

"Nick..."

"Yeah..."

"I hate to do this but...would you mind if we left? I don't think I can take walking around right now."

"No not at all. Let's go." He reached out for her hand and pulled her up, and they walked out of the park.

*****************************************

"This is a lot more relaxing that's for sure."

"Yeah it is."

"I've been wanting to see this movie anyway. You want anything? Popcorn or whatever?"

"Uhh...no food please."

"Oh...sorry!" Nick grinned.

Alecia smiled, she wasn't shaking as much and the dizziness wasn't too bad. But her head was throbbing now, but she'd suffer than to bother Nick with it. She sipped at her drink that Nick insisted she get even though she still had the other one in the truck. She rubbed at her temples again, trying to dull the pain.

"You ok?"

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"Sure?"

"Nick I'm fine, don't worry."

"Ok."

Nick watched her, she was obviously in some kind of pain, she kept rubbing at her head. He wanted to put his arm around her, but would she let him? He figured he'd try. He reached around her slowly and rested his arm behind her on the seat. He heard her sigh and figured she was gonna yell at him when she leaned her head back on his arm. He could feel his heart racing. She was so close to him, if he leaned down in just the right way, he could kiss her. It was funny, he never had to think of being turned down before, and now with Alecia, it could happen at anytime. He was realizing quickly, that he didn't want it to happen.

Alecia was having a hard time keeping her eyes open. The days events and the heat from Nick was making her tired. She'd felt his arm go around her, and was grateful for the gesture, she was feeling too bad to figure if there was some ulterior motive against it. She should've yelled at him, but she wanted his arm around her she figured out. Some how she made it through by the time they left it was dark out. They made their way slowly over to Nick's truck.

"I guess we should be heading back."

"I really shouldn't do this, but there's one other place I wanted to take you. But only if you're up to it. I promise no roller coasters."

Alecia chuckled. "Ok sure."

"Great!"

******************************************

"Where exactly are we?"

"You'll see, come on."

They got out of the truck and immediately Alecia was hit with the scent of the earth and the water. They walked out a little ways to find themselves on a secluded beach.

"This is Daytona isn't it?"

"Yeah. I like to come here a lot."

"It's so pretty."

"Yeah, I love it here."

"I can see why."

Nick took her hand gently in his. "Let's take a walk."

*****************************************

"So you mean to tell me that you've been a Backstreet Boy since you were 13? Wow, that is a long time."

"Yeah, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I love my life, the fans have been so good to us."

"Mmmm...It must be a great feeling."

"It is."

"Let's sit and rest a little." Nick suggested sitting down.

"Ok."

"Wait wait, sit here." Nick pointed between his legs. "There's something I wanted to do."

Alecia looked at him dumbfounded. " I know you can't be serious."

"Would you just sit please. I'm not gonna try to take advantage of you, I know that's what you're thinking. Hell if I wanted to, I would've done it a long time ago." Her eyes widened and Nick laughed. "Sit...now!"

She opened her mouth to say something before closing it and sitting down slowly between his legs.

"Lean back against me, it'll make it easier." Alecia shook her head. "Don't make me do it Alecia." He whispered in her ear. She didn't move, Nick sighed. "Ok, you asked for it." He snaked his arm out and pulled her back against him. She let out a squeal. "Hmmm, I'm glad you didn't do it yourself, I enjoyed that." He joked.

"Nick Carter don't make me..."

"Shh...shh....you spend too much time yelling at me. Just relax and let me do this."

She had to admit that she was worried about what he had planned. She felt his hands rub up and down along her arms and then move up to her shoulders, neck and finally on her head.

"You're so tense, relax. You're going to like this."

She swallowed and suddenly his fingers started massaging her head slowly. Against her will she felt her eyes drift shut and she sighed.

"Like?"

"Oh god...Nick you have...great hands." She moaned.

"So I've been told."

She lolled her head back so that it was resting on his shoulder. "Wow Nick...that feels so great." She murmured.

Nick cleared his throat and shifted a little, his body deceiving his calmness. Her voice, so seductive. Her lips were slightly parted, her eyes closed. He closed his eyes, it was killing him. He stopped his fingers, he couldn't do it anymore.

"All done?" She asked, opening her eyes and looking at him.

"Y-yeah."

"Ok, thanks."

"No problem. You have beautiful eyes, did you know that?"

"Nick..."

"No I mean it. They are."

"Well...thank you." She smiled and stood up. She walked over to the water's edge and slipped her socks and shoes off and waded in. Alecia sighed, this day had turned out to be really nice. She'd actually gotten along with him again. He wasn't really that bad. She looked over at Nick who seemed to be deep in thought and she reached down and wet her hands a little and flicked some water at him.

"Hey!"

"Sorry!" She giggled.

"Oh sure you are! I've got to be careful around you!"

Nick watched her splash in the water and shook his head, looking down. She was so beautiful. He'd wanted to hold her all day. Everything had changed, he couldn't be so casual anymore. Keeping his hands off her all day had been difficult. He lifted his head to tell her something when suddenly he was splashed with water.

"Alecia!!!"

She covered her mouth with her hand. She saw him get up and come towards her and she took off at a run.

"You'd better run! You're gonna pay if I catch you!"

"NICK!!! NOOOOO!!!"

Nick laughed as he caught her around the waist and pulled her to the ground.

"NICK!! Stop!!!" She laughed. They rolled around on the sand, laughing hysterically.

"Oh god! I can't breathe!! Nick...." She gasped through her laughter. Nick rolled over and looked down at her, wiping the tears of laughter away. She looked up at him and her laughter faded. There was something about the way he looked at her. So intent, her heart was pounding as he gently kissed her cheek.

"You're an amazing woman do you know that? I've never met anyone like you. I'd be willing to change... do anything...just to make you see me differently." He sighed.

"Nick, I..."

"Shhh...let's go."

They brushed themselves off and headed back to his truck.

****************************************

Nick walked her to her door.

"Well thanks for a great day. It was a lot of fun. Thanks for everything."

"It was my pleasure."

"Yeah I guess friends do things like this a lot huh?"

"Friends? You're saying you consider me a friend now?"

"Well...yeah, I guess I do."

"Thanks. You don't know how much that means to me. To hear you say that."

"Nick, I want you to do me a favor."

"Oh? What?"

"I want you to promise me, as my friend that you won't take advantage of any more women. No more one nighters. Can you do that?"

Nick stared at her, he'd do it. He'd do anything for her.

"I can do that."

"Promise me Nick."

"I promise."

"I'm gonna hold you to that. I'm gonna trust that you won't betray my trust."

"I won't Alecia."

"Thank you Nick. Now I'm gonna head to bed, I'm exhausted. Thanks again."

She turned to open her door when Nick grabbed her around the waist and spun her around. Their eyes met and he slowly lowered his head and kissed her cheek gently before holding her tightly.

"Goodnight babygirl." He whispered before releasing her and walking away.
