Ms. Byerly's Classroom
Discipline Plan
Dear Parents,

     This is a note to let you know about the discipline plan we will be using this year.  The plan is based on a collection of colors that have different meanings and consequenes.  Your child will bring home a behavior calendar which will tell you the color that your child ends on each day.  Please initial the calendar each evening and send them back to school the following day.  Below is an explanation of the colors and the consequences that go along with the colors.

     Each student will begin the day on green.  When a rule is broken, the child will be asked to pull a crayon.  If your child ends the day on green, that means they have had a gread day.  The next color is yellow.  This color means that the child has been issued verbal warnings as reminders for misbehavior.  The third color is blue.  Blue means the child has had COP time during the day.  COP time is a "cool off period" where your child can take time to think about behavior choices and how negative choices bring negative outcomes and positive choices bring positive outcomes.  The fourth color is orange.  Orange means that the child has lost either center time or recess time.  The fifth color is purple.  If a student reaches purple, parents will receive either a note or a phone call from the teacher.  The final color is red.  If a student reaches red, the child will be sent to the office.

In Summary:

Green = Great day!!!
Yellow = Verbal warning
Blue = COP time
Orange = Loss of centers or recess
Purple = Note or phone call to parents
Red = Office visit
