In February 2001, when pete got a place in Steps' You'll Be Sorry video, I knew this could mean only one thing... i would finally get my chance to see them!! Pete had said that I could sneak in as I had not been offered a place (I think the fact that I am about 12 inches high hindered my chances). After a boring coach journey and almost getting lost Pete, Jennie, James and I arrived at the studio!!
As this was only my second public appearance I was worried how many people I knew would be there. I really shouldn't have though, because soon I had made many new friends. I already knew Jennie and James, but now I got to meet Neil and Donna and those other two regulars on the celebrity circuit, Stacy and Steve. It was also my first encounter with S.O.F.T.
Everybody got their hair and make up done apart from me. The make-up artist said she didn't want to mess with perfection and I was hardly in a position to argue. After waiting around for what seemed like hours we were ushered into the recording area. We had to stand round a stage and dance to You'll Be Sorry. Pete was concerned about me getting trampled on so he put me in his pocket!

Whilst we were waiting for Steps to appear, I noticed a man heading straight towards me. Who was it I hear you ask? No other then Lee Latchford-Evans!! Pete introduced me to him and told him I was Hear'says official mascot. Lee joked "Whats he doing here then?" We all laughed and then I remarked on his sunglassess. He said that he hated wearing them indoors but the video called for it. We made some more smalltalk then he went to say hi to the other video extras.
Whilst I had been talking to Lee, the other Steppers had arrived on set. They all looked gorgeous and when I saw Claire my heart skipped a beat! (But I will always be loyal to my darling Suzy.)  After they ran through the song twice, they made their way out of the studio. Pete started talking to H who was with the gorgeous Claire and introduced me!! I think they both took an immediate liking to me as they went all coochy-coo and were saying "aww hello little ted hello!" Usually I'd say "I's Mr Ted!" but seeing as it was them I didn't mind!
Well, the day had come to an end and it was time to leave, but not before I had been introduced to the charming Mr Jack Wallington, Steps webmaster! He took an immediate liking to me and playfully chucked me in the air like a father does with his child.

And that was the end of my day with steps!!
