Chumash
What an exciting year for the 3rd Grade!  This year, we begin our studies of B'raishit using the original Hebrew text.  During the course of our studies, the children will learn how to analyze sections of Torah texts by seeking out  the keys to open up the treasure chest that is the Torah:  prefixes, suffixes, roots, patterns and recurring words and/or phrases.  Besides studying the pshat of the text (the "what you see is what you get" piece), we will also find the deeper meaning by learning midrash (rabbinic explanations using stories) and sharing the students' own insights.  Tlhis will surely be a great adventure for all of us!

Tefillah
In the 3rd Grade, we have tefillot (services) daily.  Our services are always very spirited with lots of singing, clapping and sometimes even dancing!  On Fridays, we meet again with the 4th and 5th graders.  During this period, we learn the Kabbalat Shabbat service (for Friday evenings), listen to stories and discuss the ways in which we can participate in tikkun olam, repairing the world.
