Sketchbook Homework Assignment s

Art 1B- Quarter 1

1. Design a homework assignment for yourself. Write the instructions in the space provided, then do the actual assignment in your sketchbook.

2. On a page in your sketchbook, make 3 equal sized squares, in a row. Do 3 drawings of a plant, 1 in each square:
-Contour Line Drawing
-Shaded Rendering
-Magnify (enlarge) a section

3. Do a contour drawing of an object of your choice. Only Drawing The Outline! Fill the drawing with words that correspond with the place they are written and what they are.  For example, if you had the outline of a fish, you would write the word “scales” all over its body, in the shape of scales. (See example)

4. Using magazines’, flyers and newspapers, find 3 logo designs that you feel are well designed.  Glue/tape in sketchbook.  Then create one logo of your own design for company/product of your choice.  Use at least 2 different mediums.

5. Find an old shoe and draw it from an interesting angle (set in on the floor, or on a shelf above eye level).  Do a contour line drawing of the shoe that fills a page in your sketchbook.

6. Draw a tube of toothpaste and toothbrush next to each other.  Try to show the different textures (bristles, shin tube, etc.). Show distortion of letters on toothpaste tube caused by its shape.

7. Draw a contour of your bedroom in 2-point perspective.  Include some items of furniture that extend out in to the room.  Put in door(s), window, things hanging on the walls, etc.  Shade the scene.

8. Write your first name in block letters using 2-Point Perspective.  Shade the sides using 2 different values, one for each side.
