SKETCHBOOK HOMEWORK
ASSIGNMENTS


9. From a magazine or newspaper, select parts of a picture that have distinctive patterns. Cut out a 2” x2” square of that pattern. Do this Six times. Glue the 6 different patterns on a page in your sketchbook, and copy the pattern next to each one, the same size.

10. From a magazine or catalogue cut out a picture of a face/figure. Cut it in half vertically, glue/tape in your sketchbook. Then draw the missing half showing textural and value detail so it looks as close to the missing half as possible.

11. Draw a large squiggle that FILLS A PAGE in your sketchbook. Fill EVERY SHAPE with different patterns using medium(s) of your choice.

12.Do a realistic drawing of your favorite food with a bite out of it.
Fill the page, include texture and value detail to show lifelike qualities.

13. On a tabletop, set a minimum of 3 objects of different sizes. Have them close to each other with some in front, some in back. Draw the “still life” with shadows to show where your light source is and which items are in front or back.

14. Chose a simple motif (main theme or subject) such as a leaf, a geometric shape or organic shape, Repeat the shape in different sizes to create a pattern that could be used for fabric, wallpaper, or wrapping paper, ect.

15. Cut out 12 or more printer words from a newspaper or magazine. Divide them in to 2 groups, and then arrange the groups so that one displays symmetrical balance and the others shows asymmetrical balance. Glue or tape down.
