PALM BEACH GARDENS PRE-MEDICINE MAGNET STUDENTS EXCELLED AT FLORIDA STATE HOSA COMPETITION

Palm Beach Gardens Pre-Medicine Magnet students attended the HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) State Leadership Conference (SLC) in Jacksonville, Florida.  Over twenty eight hundred HOSA students and advisors participated in the competition held April 4-7, 2002.
PBGHS had the largest delegation representing Region 9 with ninety seven students.  Forty-four students placed first through fifth in their individual competition.  Thirty four students received the gold, silver or bronze and are eligible to compete and the HOSA National competition to be held in Anaheim, CA.,
June 26-29, 2002.

The PBGHS HOSA Advisors and Pre-Medicine Magnet Instructors, Mrs. Karen Kissel and Mrs. Sharleen Scarafia attended the HOSA SLC 2002 with the ninety-seven students.  Also chaperoning were teachers Mrs. Terry Pitchford, Mrs. Cheryl Saxby, Mrs. Carol Winig and Mr. John Day in addition to Mrs. Debbie Truglio, Mr. John Kissel, Ms. Karen Durning, Mrs. Betty de la Maza and Ms. Tamara Vivas.
PALM BEACH GARDENS HOSA STUDENTS QUALIFY TO ATTEND STATE CONFERENCE IN
ORLANDO

The Palm Beach Gardens High School Chapter of Health Occupations Students of America, (HOSA), competed against six schools at the 2001 HOSA Region 9 Conference held in Vero Beach, FL.  PBGHS had the largest delegation of students at the conference.  Sixty-five PBGHS students earned gold, silver or bronze medals to qualify to compete at the HOSA State Leadership Conference (SLC).

The HOSA State Leadership Conference is to be held in Orlando March 31-April 3.  This competition and conference is designed to test the students’ medical knowledge and skills as well as enhance their
leadership skills. The students who have qualified to attend SLC are:
