What Would You Bring With You Going Around The World?
Before setting out on my trip I had to think long and hard about what to bring. I would be travelling in many different countries for many months. I knew that some of these places wouldn't have electricity, some places would be pretty dirty and therefore easy to get sick, and most all the places wouldn't have convience stores on the corner where I could just pick anything up I might need.
I also had to think about what I wanted to actually carry. Everything I was going to bring would have to fit in my backpack with all of thew clothes I was bringing. And I was going to have to carry my pack everywhere I went for ten months. Because of that fact, I decided to bring a pretty small backpack: about the size, or volume, of a brown paper grocery bag. The backpack has straps with which I can attach stuff like my jacket and extra shoes and a black stuff sack underneath to fit anything I pick up or buy along the way.
What kinds of things would I have to be ready for? What would I need to clean myself, my whole self, my teeth, hands, hair, feet and all? What kind of emergencies might I have? What would I need to fix things when they broke? What kind of things did I want to entertain myself? What things would I need to bring extras of? All these questions and more raced through my head in the weeks, days, and hours before I left.
Before you see what I came up with, think about what you would bring with you and try to make a list of your own.
