W e live in the Houston, Texas area of the USA. I am a native Texan. I was born in Corpus Christi. I moved to Temple Texas and lived there for many years, then moved to Houston in 1965.

When I am not at work, in the garden, or on the computer, I may be found in my studio painting. I am also interested in genealogy and have been researching my family tree at the Clayton Library for Genealogical Research here in Houston. My maiden name was Holland. I have traced my fathers family, the Hollands and the Scotts, back to the 1800's in Tennessee.

I call this my "garden" because it is about growing friendships, growing in faith, and growing in knowledge of many things as well as growing plants. I even feel like looking back into my family history has been a growing experience.

Kind hearts are the gardens,
Kind thoughts are the roots,
Kind words are the flowers,
Kind deeds are the fruits.

Take care of your garden,
And keep out the weeds;
Fill it with sunshine,
Kind words and kind deeds.

- Longfellow

Sitting in the shade won't make your garden grow;
It takes constant working with a shovel and a hoe.
The same holds true with your life, my friend.
It takes prayer and dedication right to the end.
M. Mohr

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy;
they are the charming gardeners
who make our souls blossom.
-Marcel Proust
