Benny Agbayani Visits Adam's Class

During the off-season and part of the regular season I am a teacher in Forest Hills. On this past June 19th, 2001, Benny Agbayani visited my 5th grade class to talk about Hawaii, The Mets, and his new book. There are 5 pictures featured here from Agbayani's visit. Please be patient while they load.

Benny Agabayani takes a minute to pose in a class photo. A message on the board reads, "Aloha Benny Agbayani".

Here, Benny & Adam smile for the camera. Benny took time out of his own schedule to make this special visit.

All day I kept saying, "It was like a press conference with kids instead of reporters." After talking for a few minutes, Benny took questions from the class. Some of the questions that had been asked were: "Do you like Hawaii better - or - New York better?" and, "If you had your choice to play another sport, what would it have been?" (Benny said he likes Hawaii better but that he loves playing baseball in New York and that he would have picked football if he hadn't played baseball).

From left to right, Mets Videographer Adam, New York Mets outfielder Benny Agbayani, District 28 Superintendent Neil Kreinik, and Principal Kenneth Joseph pose for a group photo.

During our hour, Benny talked about Hawaii and taught the kids a little about about island life. He also told them to keep working hard in school so that they could become anything they wanted to. Afterwards, Benny sat down to sign autographs for all the kids. Pictured in the background, Assistant Principal, Irtis Gonzalez.
