K7S5A and M830LR Problem Fix Guide

Please visit http://pub65.ezboard.com/bk7s5amotherboardforum to discuss any issues or questions on these motherboards.

First, I want to say that the M830LR (AKA K7S5A) motherboards are, in my opinion, absolutely great. They support AMD's superior Athlon and Athlon XP chips with DDR or SDR memory. They have fast AGP, IDE and Memory performance. They have 5 PCI slots for expandability, and the included sound and 10/100 LAN are nice.

Unfortunately, there are a couple of hard problems that sometimes come up for users of these boards. If you have problems, I suggest you exchange your board if possible. If you can't exchange, use the following fix guides to correct the problem yourself.

You have any of the following problems:
CONFIGMG error, and/or
Missing/corrupted files reported and Windows 2000/XP won't start, and/or
Second BIOS page reports more memory modules than installed, and/or
CMOS settings lost sometimes, and/or
Memtest86 errors starting in test 1 or Memtest86 crashes.
(Above problems sometimes only happen at 133/133 setting.)
(Above problems sometimes only happen at specific chipset temperatures.)
(Above problems sometimes only happen on cold boot or hot boot.)

You have any of the following problems:
Data corruption (zip CRC failures or other file corruption errors), and/or
