The Market in Antigua

The colors of the foods are only outdone by the clothing of the Maya women.  This woman sells bananas, mangos, and lemons.  Many Maya decline having their picture taken, some out of pride, some religious belief that a picture affects the spirit.  But this woman smiled and said, OK.  Fifteen quetzales for a picture.  Fair enough.

No, not the cheerful banditos that wanted my wallet.  Two students raising money for a theatre group with the University of San Carlos.  Their works are typically political satire.  I wasn't sure if the masks were for effect or truly to retain anonymity.
