    On 2-1-03 at about 1549 hrs, the Menlo Park Police Department received a call from a Jay Jones advising that his wife of 50 + years had gone for a walk and had not returned. Mr. Jones advised that his wife had gone out for a walk in the neighborhood at about 1345 hrs and had not returned. Mr. Jones stated that he had already gone to look for her but was unable to find her.

    The Menlo Park Police Department discovered that the Louise Jones may be suffering from some degree of dementia and may have gotten disoriented during her walk. The Menlo Park Police Department deployed up to 10 officers and began a systematic search of the surrounding area. Surrounding police agencies were also notified.

    At about 1800 hrs, Mrs. Jones still had not been located, and the San Mateo County Search and Rescue team were requested to assist. The Search and Rescue team consisted of adult volunteers, explorer cadets, and tracking dogs. A command post was established at La Entrada School.

    As the expanded search was about to begin, the missing person was located at Stanford Shopping Center by Stanford security. Mrs. Jones was found to be in good health, but was taken to San Mateo County General Hospital for observation.
