Here are some pictures of my climb up Mount Sherman (14,036 ft. above sea level) between Fairplay and Leadville, Colorado.  Mount Sherman is the 46th highest mountain in Colorado.  I did the climb on Thursday July 22, 2004.  This was my third trip to the summit and it took 3 hours round-trip.  Click on a thumbnail to see the full size picture.
Mount Sherman is 9 miles west of Fairplay and 8 miles east of Leadville.  You can see the mountain from U.S. 285 in South Park, but the flat summit does not stand out.  It is even less distinguished from the west side.  Sherman's summit is on private property.  Some people malign Sherman because it is so easy to climb; others cherish Sherman because it is so easy to climb.  It all depends onyour outlook.  Sherman is popular as an early season training climb, and sometimes people sleep on the summit before departing on high-altitude adventures on Earth's elevated ranges.  Thus does Sheramn touch greatness.  (Colorado's Fourteeners From Hikes to Climbs,  Gerry Roach)
