Mount Humboldt (14,064 ft.)
Climbed:  September 1996
Humble Humboldt sits by itself 1.0 mile northeast of South Colony Lakes and 1.8 miles east of Crestone Peak.  It is the high point of a long ridge separating the South Colony Creek and North ColonyCreek drainages.  Humboldt's rugged north side is seldom seen; it is much better known as a shapeless hump that is easy to climb.
From Humboldt's summit and western slopes, there are superb views of the northeast face of Crestone Peak and Crestone Needle.  Humboldt is a great place to either nervously preview or triumphantly review Crestone climbs.  For those souls who have no intention of ever climbing Crestone Peak or Crestone Needle, Humboldt offers a safe vantaage point in the heart of this exclusive place.  (Colorado's Fourteeners From Hikes to Climbs, Gerry Roach)
If you know anything about the Sangre de Christo Range then you know that Humboldt is a gem amongst gems.  It is by far the easiest fourteener in the range, which boasts some of Colorado's most beautiful, and rugged mountains.  When you picture rugged mountains, you picture the Sangre de Christo Range (Blood of Christ Range)  Enjoy the pictures.
