Asian Garden 304 599 1888 3109 University Avenue Morgantown This is my favorite restaurant in Morgantown. I am a vegan, and their menu literally has pages of vegetarian and vegan options. They specialize in Thai, Chinese and Malaysian food. I recomend the vegetarian duck or thai fried rice, but I've never had anything there I didn't enjoy. Note: stick to the menu. it's usually better than the buffet. The atmosphere isn't the prettiest in Morgantown, but the food is great and the service usually helpful. The prices are resonable. Lunch runs about $6 and dinner about $12 |
Mountain Peoples's Coop and Deli downtown 1400 University Avenue Morgantown This is another of my favorites. They create healthy, delicious foods. Most are vegan and all are vegetarian. The food is fresh, and delicious. They have mostly sandwiches and salads, and it is a little expensive for a deli. There is sitting room, but near lunchtime the place gets pretty crowded. |
Back Bay 304 296 3027 1869 Mileground Rd Morgantown Back Bay is one of the nicer restaurants in Morgantown. They specialize in sea food, but also serve pasta and various other dishes. I enjoy the pasta primavera -it's got a yummy marinara sauce and pleanty of veggies. The atmosphere is nice, and the service is helpful, but they are limited in the vegetarian options. Lunch is surprisingly inexpensive, but expect to pay a little more for dinner. |
Ali Baba's 304 292 4701 downtown 345 High Street Morgantown This is another of the nicer restaruants in Morgantown. They serve middle eastern food in a nice atmosphere. Expect to pay around $16 for dinner. Across the street is the mediterranian deli, where one can purchase the same hummus and tabouli they serve in the restaurant. They have a satisfactory selection of vegetarian options. Try the vegetarian platter.\ A SAD NOTE: ALI BABA'S CLOSED, AND IN ITS PLACE IS NOW ANOTHER AMERICAN BAR AND GRILL. THIS IS A SAD DAY INDEED. |
Ruby and Ketchy's Cheat Lake This is a cheap restuarnt which meat eaters seem to enjoy their greasey artery clogging food. Being a vegeterian all I can eat there is tossed salad and pie. but this is not so bad since there pie is yummy. I recomend the Blackberry pie. *mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm* |
Yamma downtown Japanese cafe/ restaurant With many vegetarian options and an interesting menu, this is a nice little place for lunch. It's the only Japanese restaurant in town that I have been to, and I don't know much about Japanese cuisine ( other than what I learned from Iron Chef), but I would definately go back. Lunch was about $5. I have had the vegetarian sushi and the teriyaki tofu, which were both vegan and delicious. |
Maxwell's downtown I love the atmosphere at Maxwell's. And the food's good, too. They have killer salads and gazpacho that's perfect for a hot day. They also serve a decent selection of vegan sandwiches and entrees. I would definately recommend Maxwell's to any of my friends. |
The Grasshopper Locamotive The GL just opened a few months ago. I love going here. It's a juice bar with a vegan salad bar and vegan baked items. Everything is super fresh, organic, and cruelty free. And really yummy. It's a little pricy, but that's understandable for the high quality. A small juice is $1.50 med is 2.50 large is 3.50 a cup of coffee is $1.00 salad bar is $4.50 a pound fresh coconut juice $2.00 a note about the coconut juice: the guy behind the counter opens the refrigerator, oulls out a coconut, drills a hole in it, and hands it to you with a straw. it's yummy. and good for you. and fun to walk around wiht. GL is located behind stillwell's book shop. It is near 123 pleasant street. |
