Stark (Paul Goddard) is a member of the Bannik slave race. Most members of the Banniks are said to be cold and unemotional. If anything, Stark is the exception to this. Banniks are not, in fact, without emotion at all, for the most part these half-energy, half-flesh life-forms simply must fight to maintain an even emotional state to keep balance between their corporeal forms and the energies that makes them whole. Stark helps maintain his balance by using a mask to contain his spiritual energy. While being tortured in Scorpius' Aurora chair for 2 long agonizing years, Stark feigned insanity in the hopes that Scorpius and his lackeys would relent from interrogating him as much, or if nothing else let their guard down around him so that he could work on his escape plan. Ironically, the years as Scorpius' test subject wore on him and at times of great stress he often reverts to what seems to be insane behavior. Stark has several abilities above and beyond those of the rest of his crew. By removing his mask and exposing his life energies, he can share thoughts, calm those in pain and guide the dying onto the path of their afterlife. Whether or not he can use his energies to harm others is unclear, though he once threatened Jewel and began removing his mask in a manner which suggested he could harm her, at least emotionally. It has also been shown that he can sometimes 'see' lives that are caught between the worlds of life and death and he can sense the deaths of other life-forms from a great distance... in either time or space. Especially if the deaths are violent or unexpected. For example... if he were visiting a world that was ruined by warfare, he would be able to sense it.
