"In peace, there's nothing so becomes a man, As modest stillness and humility;
But when the blast of war blows in our ear, Then imitate the action of the tiger;
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood, Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage..."
- King Henry V, Act III, Scene I

"...when [war] does come, my advice is to draw the sword and throw away the scabbard."
- Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, 1861

"[Quantrill] may spare a federal, but I never will."
- William T. Anderson

Many of the Missouri guerillas fought at the battle of Lexington, Missouri. One, according to family tradition, was my great-great grandfather, Francis (Frank) Triplett Hord. In 1911, there was a reunion of Confederate soldiers in Lexington, Missouri. A list of registered attendees was published in the Lexington newspaper and a photograph was taken.

Who were the guerrillas? The plan is to provide biographies for some of the more famous guerrillas. If you can help with some original biographies, please let me know.

William T. "Bloody Bill" Anderson.

Where can I learn more? This website will never replace the old-fashioned method of learning. So, you will want to check out the resources on the Southron Guerrilla resources page to learn more.
