This is not an anime review page. I do offer a few suggestions, but overall if am supporting my love of anime and making it known. Anime, for those who don't already know, is animation that comes from Japan. It comes in many genres, from fantasy to horrow to sci-fi, including some for adults, some for children, and some for teens. It is a very varied field, and there a lot of titles out there to choose from. Some are deep and philisophical, some whimsical, some inspiring. As the sterotype goes, there is some perverted anime (hentai), but this is only a fraction of what you will find. A lot of anime is innocent, and anime sould not be frowned upon for having this sub-genre.

Along with anime ("ah-knee-may" or "anna-may") there is manga ("mah-n-gah"), which is Japanese for "comic." These are comic books that are often published as small novels known as graphic novels. Many anime have a manga version and vice versa. A lot of anime and manga come from Japan, but there are many more unreleased in America. There are also anime-style video games, such as Final Fantasy and Secret of Mana. Also, many video game systems came to use from Japan.

I really reccommend getting into this. The shows are good, the manga keeps you reading, and the music and games are fun! You don't need to know Japanese to join in; most books and movies are translated. The culture is easy and fun to learn about, and the themes are universal. Go ahead and try some of my suggestions. If you don't like it, you can always sell it!

A long time ago, I found the Anime Laws of Physics list was found at anime.com. Last i saw, that site was shut down, but I found my copy. I wanted people to be able to read this, so i typed it up. I didn't create it, but I'm promoting it. If you have any information or questions about it, please tell me. The anime laws of physics.

Also, here are other sites about the quirks of anime and its brother, video games (esp. RPG's):

The Anime Cafe- Another site with anime physics.

RPG Cliche- The video game laws of physics.

For those interested in anime and manga reviews, I reccommend visiting the links on my links page. There are too many sites on the web already for me to create my own review page. The anime Yurnpike is a good place to start. For manga, most of the publishers offer good information on their site. Some of the biggest mmanga publishers in the US are Tokyopop and Drakhorse, Viz and ADV (who also releases a good deal of anime). There are a lot of anime companies, and I cannot reccommend just one.

If you want to find good anime and manga at reasonable prices, I know of a few methods. Search Amazon.com and Half.com for used goods; they are usually in good condition, and are a lot cheaper than buying new. Also, try the local video game, movie and book stores in your area. You may not be able to sell to them at a decent price, but most have decent discounts off of the new price. Ebay.com often has some good sales as well. Watch out for the shipping charges, and where the sender if shipping from. You can get good deals here, but you have to checker the seller's feedback and read through the terms of their sale. Some selelrs have high shipping, or ship without a box, so always check for this when buying online. (I will not be held responsible for any bad buys that might occur.)

If you live in the Phoenix area, I can offer you a few hints. Babbage's/Funcoland/Gamestop sells used anime DVD's (and games!), and the price is a good discount. You can sometimes find anime for just $10, but lately their average price is $14-$16. Still, it's better than $25! Also, you can get their 10% off card for extra savings. I suggest avoiding Suncoast/Sam Goody if you want to make money. They have good products, but they don't sell used, so buying anime there adds up. They do, however, carry manga, so watch for their sales! Metrocenter mall has all of these shops, so it's worthwhile to stop there. There is also a Gamestop on 43rd and Bethany, and on Bell near Arrowhead. Also try 51st Ave and Cactus, or visit Gamestop.com for all their locations!

Zia Records has some of the best prices for used anime. You can find used DVD's for around $12 (average)there. Like Suncoast, new is expensive. To be fair, it's probably because they buy from the company for so much and need to make some profit. Zia also carries games! This is a great place to look for what you want. they may not have a detailed selection, but you can check back often for what you want!

Bookman's is a huge store, full of music, books, games, movies and other goods. They don't always offer the best discounts on DVD, but their VHS is very cheap. In essence, it's like Zia's but not with the same discount. They often have manga too; just ask a clerk where it is! These prices are pretty good.

There are many other used bookstores in the valley that sell manga and anime at good prices. Check the phone book for some and head over to see their selections. USED bookstore is the keywork here. If you go to an all-new one, the prices are much higher. Most stores will not buy scratched or damaged items, and offer returns or exchanges on damaged items, so you don't have a lot to worry about. (Just be polite if you must return something!)

Atomic Comics is a good place to check. They have the best manga selection of all (go figure), and a very good anime selection. You can also get all kinds of fan goodies, like toys and posters, and soundtracks!! They are a little high-priced, but their goods are generally worth it. Ask about their manga frequent buyer program so that you can get a free manga now and again!

Online sites for good prices are EZanimez.com and dreamsinstore.com. These and others, such as ebay and Atomic Comics offer special box sets. These are imported, and often give you a huge discount over buying each DVD in a set individually. Check for audio and subtitle options if you're picky about these things. Good luck with your finds!

There are losts of other stores in the valley that you can try. Samurai Comics, All About Books and Comics and several others are very helpful.

By the way, if you like the Japanese snacks that you see at ATomic and Suncoast, visit my Asian place for cluse on where to get a better deal. You should support your loacl movie and bookstores, but if you're pinched for cash, it's undertsandable.

Some of my favourite anime include ArjunaRurouni Kenshin,, Ranma 1/2, Serial Experiments Lain, Magic Knights Rayearth, X/1999 the Movie, and various titles by Miyzaki and Matsumoto. If you'd like to talk about anime or manga, just message me on Yahoo! IM. I'm Moonblade26!
