All About Maria
Before the end of 7th grade, I never thought of myself as a writer. I was good at writing essays at school, but that was pretty much it. In 7th grade in English class, we did a poetry unit, and I wrote some poems that I really liked. However, I just stopped writing after that. During the summer after 7th grade, i started keeping a journal again and wrote in it almost every day. In the beginning of 8th grade I was in a depressed mood a lot of the time and to feel better I would write poems. They would mostly exaggerate what I really felt, but a lot of them were really good. I would usually get inspired if I was in a particularly bad mood or at strange times, such as 4 a.m. in the morning. Now, I try to make up something new, whether it's a poem or a quote, every so often, and it's a lot of fun to reread my old stuff or share it with people and get their opinions!
Basic Facts
Hey everyone! My  name is Maria, and I'm 15 and in 10th grade. My birthday is September 23rd, 1988.
I was born in Russia and I moved here in August 1998, so it's been about 5 years. I've lived in Pennsylvania all of those 5 years, althought I moved a couple of times, but not really far. I really like it in America - it's a lot warmer from what I can remember, and everyone is really nice.
Hobbies
I like tohi, volleyball, rollerblading, skateboarding, my bike, jogging, going to the beach, listening to music, writing, making bracelets, hanging out with my friends, reading, being helpful, laughing, and going online.
Writing
Reading
I learned to read when I was 4, and reading is a good way to pass time: it's exercise for your brain, and you can really get into a good book and it might improve your mood. My all time favorite book would have to be Lord of the Rings in Russian (I haven't been able to get through the one in English yet, even though it was originally written in English.) I first read it when I was about 9. After I forced myself to read The Hobbit and liked that book, I tried to read Lord of the Rings about 4 times but would always give up before getting through the first chapter. I think I ended up skipping the first chapter because it's really boring, and I loved the rest of the book. I saw the movie, but the book is so much better. If you've seen the movie I suggest reading the book as well because there are just so many feelings and details that the movie can't capture. Also, if the movie was a little confusing, the book clears it up.

I love making bracelets, but I have nothing to do with them. I have a lot lying around for when I feel like wearing them. At one point in the year, I was really bored so I started making them during class. It was a fad of its kind; it was pretty fun.

Other Stuff
The fastest I've ever typed a sentence was 199 GWAM.  I got into a habit of picking up trash that isn't possum-friendly. I hate sleeping in because it makes me feel like the day is over. I laugh a lot. I remember these random facts because I think I would pick up these encyclopedia type things when I was little and read them. My hair has never been past my shoulder blades. more to come...
