WAITING FOR SPRING

Snowflakes fall, it's that time of year
We huddle inside as the wind blows
Spring will be here soon, you need not fear
Sunset is later when the day draws to a close
Temperatures drop, we dread leaving home
The brave ones bundle up, snow bunnies at heart
To mountain tops, ski resorts they all roam
Through the trees and over jumps they dart
Longing for those warm summer days
I lounge under a quilt with a cup of tea
I sigh softly as out the window I gaze
Waiting for the grass and flowers to be free
Counting the days, winter will eventually pass
Though here in Canada, you never really know
Sometimes Mother Nature gives us a bit of sass
For a joke, even in summer, she sends us snow.
