MY HERO'S A SOLDIER

Here I stand all alone in the crowd
People milling past, few words spoken out loud
You are their husbands, fathers, and sons
They’ve come to remember their lost loved ones
Fallen comrades, who didn’t come home
No more on this earth they shall roam
Those who are left, who fate left behind
Accepted the duty, others they remind
You fought for your country, the land we love
You fought for our freedom, till called from above
Though you have left us, you are not forgotten
Pride for your courage over the years has been
The tie that binds together we that walk here
Those coming from far and near
How can we thank you for all you have done
For the battles you have fought and won
Even the Unknowns we honor still
By the markers that cover the hill
Old soldiers never really die they say
But my heroes they shall always be from this day
