MISSING YOU

Tonight I heard a song
And I thought of you once more
How different would life be
If we weren't three but four
I often wonder late at night
About the man you would have been
If you had lived to see this day
I stop to imagine again
When I allow myself to think back
I can remember clues
A subject rarely discussed
And now it gives me the blues
You would have been so important
Such a big part of my life
But you never got your big chance
No lucky girl will be your wife
I'll have to be content to wait
Now that you've gone away
My only consolation is knowing
I'll see you again someday
