LULLABY

Softly he croons to his newborn child
As he walks in the darkened hall
The love he feels is stronger than any he's known
He pauses to lean against the wall
He has gone from being son to being father
Taking responsibility for this new little one
He's full of hope, fears and dreams
As he gazes down on his small son
How someone so helpless and small
Could steal his heart he doesn't know
But he'd sacrifice anything
He'd face any foe
To protect his child, to keep him safe
From the evil all around
A tear of love and joy escapes
Silently falling to the ground
For tonight at least there are no worries
Just a soothing voice in the night
A tiny hand curls around his finger
Trusting Daddy, he holds on tight
