FREEDOM'S COST

Our freedom comes with a high price to pay
It must be paid each and every day
We all pay dues some way or another
We send out our friends, fathers and brothers
But what does it cost in the over all end
For those who refuse to give in or bend
Flashbacks for some, memories for all
Straight jackets, medications or a name on the Wall
Even the strong at times are weak
Feeling alone in the crowd like a circus freak
Sleeping alone, nightmares still there
Years without sight, shrapnel doesn't care
Some are safe, others never made it back
Rolling thunder sounds so much like an attack
Give them your respect, honor and love
Be proud of the flag flying above
One thing I've learned, this I can see
The cost of freedom can never be free
