Garden City Volleyball, Inc. was formed in the fall of 1992, with the main premise of the organization being "a volleyball league run for and by volleyball players."

After years of playing in second class gyms at first class prices with Missoula Parks and Recreation, a small group of players put their resources together and pulled out of the City Leagues to improve the volleyball landscape in the city.

GCV now plays in first class facilities, with MOA certified referees and first class equipment. After nine years, the league is still run by players, which gives the players the ultimate say on how the league is run.

GCV offers four levels of co-rec play two nights per week (Open and A on Mondays; two levels of B on Tuesdays). Women's leagues (Open, A and B) and men's leagues (4x4) are offered on Thursday nights. Two sessions are offered per year, fall season which starts in September and ends in December; and Winter season, which starts in January and ends in March/April.
