  • GIRLS BASKETBALL: The Lady Chiefs fall in the semifinals of the Central Region Tournament to L.C. Bird but not before ousting Meadowbrook (seeded #2) and Hermitage. Congratulations on another successful season: 21-7, winners of the Dominion District Tournament and 5 years in a row making it to at least the Central Region semifinals. (2/29)
  • GIRLS BASKETBALL: Monacan's Rachel Robinson is named to the 1st Team All-Dominion District and 2nd Team All-Central Region. She is also named to both All-Academic teams. Joining Robinson on the Dominion District All-Academic team are: Emari Ready, Abbie Gray and Sophmore Candice Silas. (2/26)
  • BOYS BASKETBALL: The Chief's Joey Stemmle is named to the 2nd Team All-Dominion District. Stemmle is also named to the Dominion District All-Academic team. (2/26)
  • GIRLS BASKETBALL: The Lady Chiefs, ranked 8th in the metro, run through the Dominion District Tournament taking the title by beating Clover Hill, L.C. Bird and Cosby. Monacan will play Hermitage in the first round of the Central Region Tournament at Monacan on Tuesday - February 16 at 7:00 p.m. (2/22)
  • BOYS BASKETBALL: Monacan's season ends with a loss to Manchester in overtime in the first round of the Dominion District Tournament. The Chiefs played Manchester 3 times this season losing all 3 in OT by a total of 8 points. (2/19)
  • JV BOYS BASKETBALL: The junior Chiefs finish their season undefeated, 19-0 overall and 16-0 in district play. Congratulations to Coach Rob and the team on a fantastic run! (2/15)

  • WRESTLING: Monacan's Martin Coberly (2nd place), Noah English (2nd place) and Jonathan Burrill (4th place) advance from the Dominion District Tournament to the Central Regionals. English finishes second in his weight class in the Regionals to move on to the State Tournament. (2/16)
  • GIRLS BASKETBALL: The 6th ranked Lady Chiefs pick up two more district victorys over Clover Hill and George Wythe. Senior Night is this Thursday, February 14 at 7:30 p.m. (2/7)
  • BOYS BASKETBALL: Monacan loses at Clover Hill and wins at home over George Wythe. Senior Night is this Wednesday, February 13 at 7:30 p.m. (2/8)
  • BOYS BASKETBALL: Suffering from a lack of offensive firepower, Monacan loses to the 7th ranked Huguenot Falcons on Wednesday. The Chiefs turn it around on Friday and pick up a district win over the James River Rapids. (2/1)

  • GIRLS BASKETBALL: The 6th ranked Lady Chiefs win over Huguenot, 47-36, to improve their Dominion District record to 10-3 and 14-5 overall. (1/29)
  • GIRLS BASKETBALL: Early in the week, Monacan moves up to #3 in the metro rankings but then suffers district losses to Manchester and Cosby. The losses will make it difficult for the Lady Chiefs to capture the Dominion District regular season title. (1/24)

    December 2007

  • GIRLS BASKETBALL: The Lady Chiefs sweep to the crown of the Stafford Holiday Invitational Tournament in northern Va. Monacan beats Gar-Field, Stafford and Riverbend in successive days to capture the championship. Rachel Robinson is named the tournament's Most Valuable Player award. (12/29)

  • BOYS VOLLEYBALL: Monacan's Tyler Schleinkofer (1st team) and Michael Koebel (2nd team) earn all Central Region honors. (11/22)
  • FIELD HOCKEY: Monacan's Taylor Redfearn is named 2nd team All-Central Region and All Academic. Redfearn, Lindsey Marr, Michelle Plfuger, Katherine Brady and Martha Crosby receive All-Dominion District honors. (11/22)
  • BOYS VOLLEYBALL: Monacan loses to Frank Cox, 3-2, in the semifinals of the state tournament. (11/15)
  • FOOTBALL: The Chiefs cannot muster any offense against the Hanover Hawks in the first round of the Division 5 play-offs losing 30-0. (11/16)
  • FOOTBALL: The Chiefs upset #6 ranked Manchester to earn a play-off berth for the first time since 2000. Monacan will begin the Division 5 play-offs by traveling to Hanover on Friday, November 16. (11/9)
  • BOYS VOLLEYBALL: Monacan finishes second to #1 ranked and undefeated Thomas Dale in the Central Region Tournament. The Chiefs, ranked #3, beat Highland Springs and Deep Run (ranked #2) to advance to the finals against the Knights. The second place finish qualifies Monacan for the State Tournament scheduled to begin Thursday, November 15th. (11/8)
  • FOOTBALL: Monacan can get nothing going offensively and is shutout, 20-0, by the James River Rapids in a district contest. (11/2)
  • BOYS VOLLEYBALL: The Chiefs breeze through the Dominion District Tournament without losing a game. Monacan beats both Clover Hill and Cosby, 3-0 and takes home the trophies for 1st in the regular season and 1st in the tournament. The Chiefs will meet Highland Springs, Monday, Nov. 5, at home in the first round of the Central Region Tournamnet. (11/1)

  • FOOTBALL: Monacan wins their homecoming game against rival Midlothian, 14-0 and improves to 5-1 in the Dominion District. (10/27)
  • BOYS VOLLEYBALL: The Chiefs cannot match-up with #1 ranked Thomas Dale but finish with a win against Midlothian and claim the Dominion District regular season championship. Monacan will host the district tournament starting on Tuesday, October 30th. (10/25)
  • CHEERING: The Monacan competition cheering squad finishes 3rd in the Dominion District and advances to regional competition on Monday, October 29th at the Siegel Center. (10/24)

  • GOLF: Austin Gray represents Monacan in the State Championships at the Dominion Valley Country Club in Haymarket, Va. Gray shoots 73-74, 147 finishing 2nd among Central Region golfers. (10/10)

  • BOYS & GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: The Monacan Boys and Girls race past George Wythe but are no match for Midlothian. (10/10)
  • GOLF: Monacan's Austin Gray finishes 3rd in the Central Region Tournament and will represent the Chiefs in the state championship starting Tuesday. Gray is also named to the All Central Region Team. Although the team did not qualify for the regionals - Gray, Matthew Teachey and Brian Critzer qualified for individual play. (10/2)

    May 2007

  • GIRLS SOCCER:Monacan's Lindsey Hill and Hallie Rogers are named 1st team All Dominion District. Sarah Nania and Emily Finestone are named to the 2nd team. Rogers earns 2nd team All Central Region honors and Hill receives Honorable Mention. (5/31)
  • BOYS SOCCER:The Chiefs come up short against Midlothian in the play-in game for the 4th spot in the Dominion District Tournament. Jackson Horner and Hunter Cheatham earn Dominion District 1st Team honors. Ross Danzeisen, Matt Golob and Logan Stykemain are named to the second team. All five receive All Academic honors. (5/21)

  • Lanier wins 2 city tennis titles
    Conte runner-up in doubles
    Monacan's John Lanier won both the singles and doubles championships for 16-year-olds in the Davenport Richmond City Tennis Championships June 30.
    Lanier defeated Cliff Boyd of James River H.S., 6-3, 6-2 for the 16 singles title. He teamed with Jessee Tarr of Clover Hill H.S. to defeat Cliff Boyd and Drew Carroll, both of James River, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5, for the doubles championship.
    Monacan's Daniel Conte teamed with Earl Alenton of Midlothian H.S. to reach the 18-year-old doubles final. They fell to Hunter Powell and John Markowitz, both of Collegiate, 6-4, 6-1.
