SHE CONTINUED

She died a thousand deaths,
Of others,
She cried a thousand tears.

But she felt other's sheer joy,
And laughed among them,
Even despite the tragedies,
She continued to see so much beauty in other things,
In so many things,
In every detail,
From the sky to the fields,
Everything in between,
She saw it all through her own vision she created,
She saw the world how SHE needed to see it.

And through all of this,
Although she cried a thousand tears,
She continued to love so many it was to many to count,
And empathy was part of her love.

She was able to continue through life.

KIMIE

My cousin Kimie was 16 at the time,
She had just been at a party,
And was leaving with her friend who was driving the vehicle,
Then he accidentally drove through a red light,
Hitting a chip truck,
Kimie was thrown through the front window and killed instantly,
Because she was not wearing a seatbelt.

One simple little thing that she didn't do changed everything,
And everyone forever,
It would never be the same,
Like a nightmare you keep wanting to wake up from.

Now, she would have been about 39 years old,
And would have had hundreds of memories,
And stories to tell,
A life to live on earth,
With her family,
More than just a photo of mine;
With her long dark hair and she's looking down,
A teenager that has a lot of growing to do.
She would be a real flesh and blood woman to talk to.

This is not only another tragic story,
This is Kimie,
And this same incident could pertain to me,
Or to you someday,
When we're least expecting it,
But, I hope we could make better choices.
