Moe Keale sang with deeply felt emotion and spiritual depth.  Although he was a seasoned movie, stage and TV actor, his emotive singing was genuine and straight from his heart.  Aloha was embedded in his voice. As I write this, Moe's IMAGINE CD is playing. His unique singing voice, tinged with reverence, brings tears to my eyes, just as the meaningfulness of his songs brought tears to his eyes. 

Searching the Web, I came across a sampler of Moe's singing in a tribute from the Aloha2Go Radio Show.  Click here to get to it, but please be patient.  Get through the "fresh lei in the desert" commercial and then you'll be rewarded with Moe's voice.  It is one you will never forget or want to.  

Moe was much more than a Nâ Hôkû Hanohano Award (Hawaii's version of the Grammys)-winning vocalist.  Besides being a versatile actor, he was a gifted musician, `ukulele master, and consummate entertainer.  He was father to kumu hula, Scott Nâlani Keale, and husband to Carol.  He was also Israel and Skippy Kamakawiwo`ole's uncle; with the passing years, he became everyone's "Uncle Moe."  

His work history included beach boy, radio deejay, part-time electrician and professional high-diver. He was a healer, a humanitarian, and a partner and active masseur in the Lomi Shop Va`a at the Windward Mall. 

I thought of Moe as the Johnny Appleseed of Aloha. Wherever he traveled in the world, he consciously spread Aloha. With his singing, he planted Aloha in people's hearts; with the "ALOHA Is..." lesson, he cultured minds. He made sharing the meaning of Aloha, as taught to him by his teacher, Pîlahi Pâkî, his personal mission. 

Moe didn't just talk Aloha up, giving it lip-service.  He lived Aloha.  He became a role model and inspired us all, young and old, seasoned and wet behind the ears. Wherever life took him, he lifted spirits and aroused his listeners to higher ideals.

For those who knew Moe and his music, may this Web site inspire you to hold on to Moe's vision of weaving a lei of Aloha around the world.  In remembering Moe, our heartstrings are tugged.  You may weep a bit. It's okay.  Like Braddah IZ, freed from Earth's shackles, Moe is capable of even more.  He will continue to touch us with the grace of Aloha.  Let that Aloha shine through our tears.
