Note:  This entry was composed on July 21st, not July 18th.

Hours at Work:  8:30am - 12 noon

I actually got quite a bit of work completed in the half day I was there.  I finished up characterizing all the data from the current mirror chip.  Also, I worked on fixing up the circuit for the charge detector module for the RISE level I program.

I walked to the bus stop at lunch time and caught the bus to the C.P. Metro station.  From there, I went to Union station and picked up my tickets.  I was going to spend the weekend in NYC with Jamie.

Anyway, I sat down and ate a pretzel while waiting for train boarding time.  The train left DC right around 2:05pm and arrived in NYC around 5:30pm.  The train was overbooked, and I luckilly got a seat... BUt I managed to finish all but the last page of The Life of Pi (which I finished in the hotel when Jamie went to shower after receiveing his bags). Jamie met me right outside of my train and we walked to Habitat Hotel (where we were staying) to check in and lay down our stuff.  Turns out his luggage got 'lost' and didn't arrive in NY when he did, so all he had was his carry on bag for the first 2 days he was there (he got to NY on Thurs.).  Luckily, his bags got there to the hotel around 10:30 pm.

So, after we got settled in at the hotel, we were both hungry, so we walked to see where we could find to eat... which was more of a difficult task in NYC than both of us expected.  But finally we found one of those American grills/micro-brewery's and decided to eat there.  Food was more expensive than a normal place like that, but its NY so what do you expect.

After dinner, we were going to go to the Empire State Building and look over the city at night... it had started raining, but we decided to go anyway.  By the time we reached the Empire State Building, we were both soaked, and when we went inside to get tickets and go up to the observation deck, we were told that they had closed for the evening (apparently due to the rain).  By the time we left there, it had stopped raining, so we just kept walking around the city, mainly Times Square, which was ALIVE there at night.

After that, we went back to the hotel and chatted a bit and went to sleep.
