MEXICO
25th May 2004 - 23rd June 2004
Having missed the Greyhound bus that we were originally booked on, we climbed aboard a Greyhound bus headed for Nuevo Laredo, Mexico on 25th May, (only 24 hours late) to start our travels South!  Our first stop was Monterrey, a lovely university city with lots of great bars and restaurants.  From Monterrey we headed to Chihuahua and the Copper Canyon via Saltillo and the desert at Cuatrocienegas where we camped the night in the middle of nowhere next to some natural hot springs.  From the Copper Canyon we made our way to Mazatlan on the Pacific coast and then zig-zagged our way through Mexico all the way South to Oaxaca and then East to the Yucatan peninsula, from where we travelled across the border to Belize.  Our travels in Mexico included visiting Tequila for some tequila tasting, climbing up hundreds of Mayan ruins, tasting local delicacies in the markets (grasshoppers), and snorkelling in the world's largest underground cave system.
