| Recently, I
misplaced my $1,200 Sony DCR TRV 740 Digital 8 Camcorder USB driver CD. I searched the Sony website up and down without success. I finally called them at their tech support number. After going through about 8 or 10 menu prompts that took about 5 minutes to navigate through, I was transfered to a dead-end busy phone line (que). The only way to get back in the que, was to listen to all the prompts again. Well, my life was not about to be devoted to redialing over and over again to get in some que to speak to a Sony rep so I sent them an email. Their robot replied to my email immediately, which was nice. I got a reply from a person within 30 minutes, which was really nice. However, the person's reply was for me to call the parts and service phone number. At parts and service, tehy answered very quickly, but they quoted me around $20 for a CD which had the USB drivers. Now let me get this straight. I spent $1,200 for the camera and they want to charge me again for a piece of software that can be downloaded? Every other manufacturer has drivers available for download on the web. Try hp.com, dell.com, and the list goes on. My answer to Sony - No thanks! Stick the CD where the sun doesn't shine. So I went home and turned my CD collection inside out and upside down and found the damned CD with the USB drivers. To make sure I don't misplace or loose it again, I created this little website and uploaded the software here. ***** As it turns out, there are other drivers that hard as hell to find, so once again, in the spirit of making things easy, they are available here. ***** I just purchased the Cybershot DSC-P71 which is a 3 megapixel camera. So far I love it. With the same argument as above, if anyone needs the drivers, they are available on this site! _______________________________ |
